Moroccan Solar Plan, Roll-out for The Five Moroccan Solar Plants Totaling 2000MW by 2020
We obtained this information from the World Bank about the planned roll-out for the commissioning of the 5 planned solar plants in Morocco. The pace is quite high over the next years and undoubtedly the plan will be successful at sticking at its 2020 deadline providing the plants are constructed and delivered in a timely manner at the rate of one plant each year.
Ouarzazate with 500 MW is the first plant that is to be commissioned in 2015, the phase one of the project is already clearly under way as ACWA won the bid conducted by MASEN for NOOR1.
NOOR2 and NOOR3 tenders are also under way and should be completed in the coming weeks.
Other plants identified as part of this plan include
- A new 400 MW solar plant next to the Ain Beni Mathar plant to be commissioned in 2016,
- A 500 MW plant in Foum Al Ouad to be commissioned in 2017,
- A 500 MW plant in Boujdour to be commissioned in 2018
- And a 100 MW in Sebkhat Tah to be commissioned in 2019.
