Morocco to hold early vote in mid-November
Personal Notes : Im quite happy to see the political scene in Morocco get a shake up. Indeed what does it mean to have 20 political parties ? Their fragmentation makes the emergence of any strong leader almost impossible plus just imagining having to make consensus with all the smaller parties gives me a headache. We look at other parts of the world, and we see that they are led by no more then two or three large parties, and that is where we should be heading to. In other words, politics in Morocco haven't yet reached the level of maturity displayed by the common citizen at the occasion of the recent constitutional referendum. Such reforms should be put in law restraining the regulations about what and how much members does a party amount to really... But wait ! Im still a liberal, am I not ?

RABAT — Morocco announced plans Sunday to hold early parliamentary elections in mid-November, as the Arab world's longest-serving monarchy pursues reforms in response to protests inspired by the Arab Spring.
During long overnight negotiations with the interior ministry, officials from some 20 political parties in the north African nation agreed in principle for the election to be held in mid-November.
Voters overwhelmingly approved a package of reforms limiting the powers of King Mohammed VI in a July 1 referendum.
"The parties and the interior ministry have agreed for the election to be held in mid-November," Prime Minister Abbas al Fassi, secretary general of the nationalist Istiqlal party, told AFP.
He did not provide an exact date but other party officials said the vote would be held on or around November 11.
