Personal Notes : This is very encouraging, the global energy reconversion is in full swing and we should see the results before the first half of the century. It is accelerated by events such as the ongoing reconversion in Japan following its rethinking of its energy policy and a clear steering towards replacing nuclear energy by more sustainable renewable means. It has also been accelerated in developing countries such as ours by the adoption by His Majesty of a plan that is to provide 42% of Morocco's energy through renewables in the future. Needless to say that once this is achieved, it makes sense for a country with a heavy expenditure in energy such as ours to continue down the road towads a 100% renewable energy reconversion.
Such goals have already been set by Germany, Scottland and Tuvalu.
Recently, the Monthly Energy Review has reported that renewables are now supplying more energy to the electric grid than nuclear power. This is the first time in the United States that our portfolio of renewable energy sources has surpassed those of nuclear power.
The numbers represent the total power production for the country, not just electricity generation. This is why numbers for coal look low and numbers for oil look high. The report is a credit to the growth of renewable energy resources in the United States in recent years.
