Genesis Morocco

Project Genesis is a strategic sustainable development framework for Morocco to translate from being a net importer of energy and a country facing water shortage issues, into the number one producer both of clean renewable energy and water in the region.

Charting the Course Ahead

Does renewable energy and water production constitute a viable project for Morocco, or in other words is project Genesis a go.

It is a legitimate question, also a process of self questioning as a matter of fact.

And my legitimate belief is that is not only a desirable course of action, but the only course of action for the energy strategy of the country.

It is a belief that I know is shared at the top levels of the state, thus the 42% part of renewables in Morocco's energy mix by 2020.

Still, this doesn't amount to project Genesis vision, it amounts as a formidable effort but were not at equilibrium state that will allow for national energy and water self sufficiency then past that point, where energy and water are exported either raw or refined. processed.

One question leading to the other, when would that happen ? will it happen ?

I would say it all depends of the orientations coming from the top, it is a matter of scaling things and of financing. As for when, I would that the majority of the energy reconversion will be accomplished by 2040 and that by 2050 we could become net exporters. Most definitely the next half of century will be determining. It is an exciting age for renewables in Morocco and now is the time to invest.
