Entry Requirements

Honours Degree in Electronic Engineering .
Honours Degree in another engineering discipline or Physics, Applied Physics, Computer Science .
Other qualifications evaluated on an individual basis .
Non EU applicants are accessed as above, qualifications will be checked for equivalency using the NAIRC system.
General Information

This taught postgraduate programme is approved by the Graduate Skills Conversion Programme of the Higher Education Authority, fees are subsidised at €2000 (2009-2010 per programme) , making them a very attractive option for continuing professional development.
An exciting range of modules in topical electronic sciences combined with a state-of-the-art engineering facility awaits students. The courses can be taken on campus, completely online or a mixture of both providing a flexibility in delivery tailored to the needs of the learner.
In addition the ME programme offers the student a chance to hone their research skills by specialising in one of a variety of exciting areas in a full time three month research dissertation.
Renewable energy systems are a growing and an important part of engineering, this has been recognised by researchers internationally and nationally. NUI Maynooth is playing it’s part, with significant work in the wave energy field. The major in Renewable energy systems complements our offerings in this area and is a flexible option for those who want some significant knowledge in the area but not to the exclusion of other electronic engineering modules offered under the general programme

Students must complete the following credits over the period of their study:

Renewable Energy system modules: 30 credits
Select from the remaining modules: 30 credits
Renewable Energy Systems Project: 30 credits

Students must complete 90 credits to successfully complete the ME (Renewable Energy Systems)

Taught modules: Approximately 3 hours lectures per week per module. 8 taught modules completed over 2 semesters(full-time), over 4 semesters(part-time).
Project: completed full-time over 1 summer (May to August), part-time over 2 summers (May-August).

Personal notes : It can also be an international institute and the product of a collaboration between the MEN (Ministere de l'energie et des mines), the National Agency for Solar Power, the Mohamadia School for Engineers, and a private firm that operates in the renewable energy sector (Shell, Eon, etc).

The goal is to dispose of the necessary manpower for the ongoing energy reconversion of Morocco. Need I remind my readers that the 42% renewable energy target by 2020 is quite telling of the scale and importance of this reconversion, engineers with the right skill set will be key for success and the Institute can also be viewed as a pole for excellence in Morocco.
