Connecting the dots

Extracts from previous posts:

01. New player on the energy market : Menara Energie (capitalizing on a household name to offer other appliances then internet, in this case electricity). A liberalisation of the energy market has to be conducted beforehand. Oppening the market to international ventures is an avenue to be explored.

02. Renewable energies are expected to contribute 10% to the national energy balance by 2012, against 4% today.

03. A goal of 20% would have set up an accelerated national dynamic in the sector, however 10% is a good grab, how about the next 10 years, what is the projection for that.

Opportunity :

Having new privately owned entrants in the energy sector mainly for home and small business consumption would allow us to boost the sector by proposing offers that include a percentage of renewables.

This renders the investments in renewables in Morocco a very attractive one since we create a viable business opportunity for private capital to address the energy needs of Moroccan households.

Consumer wise, the private offer would be priced up to 10 percent below current market prices.

Government wise, licenses to operate should stipulate that a percentage of the benefits be reinvested in creating more renewable energy capacity especially in remote areas targeted by the PERG (global rural electrification program).

Case studies :

Direct Energie
