2150 and beyond...

World population growth projection chart / Wikipedia

Where do I want to go with building up solar and water desalinization capacity beyond national needs, way beyond ?

Let us consider a few facts, the world population is on the rise and the fastest growing is Africa. Secondly we are already facing several disruptions due this growth, urban exodus, crowding of the largest cities, water and energy shortages, to name a few.

Now theses tendencies are not reversible unless we find alternatives, cities and communities that are self sustaining in energy and water and that viable on the long term.

In my opinion the largest piece of undervalued underexploited piece of estate property is the Sahara and other such deserts.

Colonization of the desert, whether as a strategic peace option for the Neguev in Israel, or as a way to resolve energy and overpopulation tensions in Africa is a fascinating prospect for the future.

Theses cities and communities would generate revenues from the exploitation of solar farms and even agriculture, they would be provisioned by water pipelines stretching from the coastal areas where the main water desalinization plants would be situated linked through high speed land based links such as bullet trains.

They would export their main production, energy, through a high capacity grid linking them to the coastal area, thus powering the water desalinization plants as well as providing for the energy needs of the main coastal cities.
